Mazda BT-50

A refined, practical ute, the Mazda BT-50 does everything in its stride.

Model Update

Need a machine that has the best blend of 4×4 ability, practicality and performance? Look no further than the latest Mazda BT-50 model. Loaded with many useful features, the BT-50 has top safety features, cabin convenience items and comfortable travel.

ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), alloy wheels, power windows/mirrors, are also now fitted standard on 4×2 and 4×4 Single Cab Chassis DX variants, with ABS and EBD emerging as an option on both.

The Boss pack includes an aluminium tray, ladder rack, toolbox and water tank, while 4×4 Boss variants also provide a nice looking bullbar.

SDX variants gain side airbags and a leather-clad steering wheel/gearshift knob.

Engines are excellent workhorses, with the BT-50 continuing to offer two common-rail DOHC 16-valve turbo-diesel engines: a 105kW/330Nm 2.5-litre, which is fitted to the 4×2 Single Cab Chassis DX; and, on all other models, a higher-output 115kW/380Nm 3.0-litre engine. Towing the big caravan or furniture trailer is no problems for the BT-50.

More than a pickup truck, the Mazda BT-50 stands out as a luxurious and desirable utility vehicle. Sparkling with standard accessories and boasting a ride that makes you think you’re riding in a passenger car, the Mazda BT-50 provides it all. Whether you find yourself long-hauling the motorway or tackling the most challenging track off road, the Mazda BT-50 has been designed to satisfy.

The all new Mazda BT-50 is the most powerful, comfortable Mazda truck ever. Captured in the sophisticated exterior lines, the tough and practical Mazda BT-50 is both sporty and stylish. Power isn’t a problem when the engines are highly refined and technologically advanced. Offering both a 2.5 and 3.0-litre turbo-diesel power plant with advanced common-rail direct injection for superb performance and excellent fuel economy, the Mazda BT-50 is the perfect blend of hard work and refinement. Economy for the base model Single Cab Chassis runs in at around 8.5 litres/100 km, which is a very good combined average. The bigger 3.0-litre diesel engine clocks in at 9.5 litres/100 km.

Built on a rugged ladder frame chassis that can operate fully loaded on or off-road and which is strengthened by a unique overlapped cross-braced design, its high rigidity delivers outstanding handling, ride, load carrying and safety. The strong suspension design adds to the Mazda BT-50’s fine handling and ride, even if you’re carrying a full and heavy load. Underneath, the 4WD system provides excellent off-road handling and traction.

You will find the modified mirrors and bumpers provide better aerodynamics which adds to better handling and petrol mileage. Sitting up nice and high ensures that your view of the road ahead is commanding and clear. There are two choices for cargo trays: the regular cab model, which can handle items up to 2.28m long, and the double cab. Both designs can carry up to 1 ton. There are rope hooks and retractable stoppers on certain models to adjust to different odd-sized objects that you may want to carry. The Mazda BT-50 is capable of towing up to 3000kg.

Safety doesn’t take a back seat either. ABS, driver and passenger airbags, a collapsible steering wheel and anti-theft protection provide the truck with forefront safety and security features. And, as mentioned earlier, the awesome clear view one gets from being up high is enhanced with large well-placed rear vision mirrors and lots of glass in the right places for seeing behind and alongside the truck.

When you’re riding in the Mazda BT-50, you’ll quickly forget you’re in a pick-up. There is generous space for 5 passengers depending on the cab configuration you choose. It also has the most comfortable seats in its class, air conditioning and a modular audio system that is crystal clear in its sound quality. There is tons of storage space throughout the cab.

Prices for the single cab start at around $23,000 and there are many options to choose from to make the Mazda BT-50 your one on-road, off-road vehicle. Go bush!
