2011 Alfa Romeo Brera

Model Update

Something special, and something different, please. It’s hard to find a better looking 2+2 on the market. The Mazda MX5 looks nice, but I reckon the Alfa Romeo Brera is the icing on the cake.

New for 2011 showrooms is the Alfa Romeo 1750 TBi – a real mover and shaker. It might have a low fuel economy – thanks to a finely tuned 1750cc petrol fed engine, but this is one set of wheels that can go like the clappers.

With the new engine, Brera’s 0-100 kmh time is 7.7 seconds, while top speed is boosted to 235 kmh. Despite this performance lift the Brera 1750 TBi engine saves 1.3 litres of fuel every 100 km over the outgoing 2.2 JTS model. Friendlier on the environment, the Alfa Brera 1750 TBi also meets the EuroV emissions standard – hence the CO2 emissions drop from 221 g/km to 189 g/km.

The Brera 1750 TBi ain’t short on goodies, either. Italian flair runs free inside the Brera 1750 TBi, and Electric windows with one-touch function, Dual Zone climate control, Remote central locking with alarm and immobiliser, seven airbags, electronic key and start button, a Stereo radio/CD with steering wheel audio controls and 6 speakers, Pieno Fiore leather interior, leather steering wheel and gearknob, and cruise control just make it all the more pleasurable. Check out the rear armrest with a ski tunnel, and the very practical 60/40 split folding rear seats.

Optional nineteen-inch spoke alloy wheels, electrically adjustable seats with heating and memories, electrically folding door mirrors, a full length glass sun roof and Blue and Me Bluetooth connection system with i-Pod/USB connection are all part of the Brera 2011 package.

With a very distinctive coupe design the Alfa Romeo Brera draws attention at any kerbside carpark. With a sporty and elegant style that has been synonymous with Alfa Romeo vehicles, the Brera heralds a sporty and quite distinctive look. Looking at the nose head-on, one looks with admiration at the sharp lines of the bonnet whisking back to a large acutely sloped windshield and side windows. The blunt, yet trendy, rear butt looks the deal on wheels.

Take this stunning 2+2 coupe for a drive, and the ride is awesome. In short, the Brera rides and performs incredibly. Be ready for impressed looks from the sidewalk. The Alfa Romeo is an instant a head-turner.
The top of the line Alfa Romeo Brera comes with a 191 kW V6 3.2-litre petrol power plant. The engine is terrifically responsive, and the handling is a dream to behold – particularly with the impressive AWD. A quick 2.2 litre petrol Front Wheel Drive version can also cover the ground very smartly, providing the driver an exhilarating drive. Alfa Romeo has long been held as the master of front-wheel-drive handling, so you aren’t losing an awful lot of driving appeal by driving a FWD instead of the AWD version.

The interior is classic Alfa Romeo styling, with a more “air plane” cockpit look, and a sports steering wheel that makes you feel like you’re in the Indy 500. There are other innovative features of the Alfa Romeo Brera. Some high quality materials are used in its construction. Alfa Romeo has introduced some pretty nifty ideas, like the wide fixed glass roof that provides more natural interior light. The glass roof also adds a sense of spaciousness inside, and a streamlined appearance outside. The new Alfa Romeo Brera is available in three trim levels, and it can come equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission – depending on your taste.

You really feel the Brera power when you are seated low down in the driver’s seat. Power is applied to the road very smartly – thanks to the use of a quadrilateral front suspension and a multilink rear suspension. Fitted on some models are the highly sophisticated electronic monitoring systems that enhances the Brera’s traction control, braking and road handling to provide the safest most superb driving experience one could enjoy.

Alfa Romeo made the Brera a vehicle that turns heads and provides many of today’s needed features: roominess, AWD, pace and an all around superb design.

The current model series includes the:

  • Brera 1750 TBi
  • Brera 2.2 JTS
  • Brera 3.2 JTS V6 AWD
