Boasting a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution, the Alfa Romeo Giulia has a feeling of ideal balance and steering accuracy.  Alfa Romeo has ensured that the car’s weight has been kept to a minimum with the use of high-strength steel in the body, while the wheel guards and doors are aluminium.  The bonnet and roof are made of carbon fibre.  Other areas which have been kept as light as possible are the driveshaft, front seat frames and aerodynamic appendices which are all made of aluminium – not to mention the suspension.  The Giulia Quadrifoglio is the only sedan in the world to be equipped with an active aero front splitter.  This adjustable carbon fibre spoiler is integrated into the front lower section of the Giulia’s nose.  On straights, the splitter is closed to minimize resistance and drag; while on the corners (or when braking) it opens up to provide a strong downforce for optimum balance.  It’s a beautifully composed car to drive.

Thrust is fed to the rear wheels, and the sports tuned suspension keeps this sports sedan well in touch with the corners and nicely planted at high speed.  The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio pairs rear-wheel drive with a slick six-speed transmission for quick response and acceleration.  Excellent torque-vectoring systems control wheel spin by optimizing the power distribution between the wheels for premium levels of traction.  Alfa Romeo has also equipped the Giulia sedan with four specific driving modes.  These are: Race, Dynamic, Natural and Advanced Efficiency – all of which can be selected via the knob on the centre console.  Race position activates the over-boost function for increased torque limits and also allows for maximum pedal response for the ultimate race-style drive.  Dynamic supplies sharper throttle, brake and steering wheel response, while a deep exhaust note is emitted for even more driving pleasure.  Natural is the setting for comfort, and this setting provides a really nice blend of comfort and control for every-day sort of driving.  Advanced Efficiency setting enables the cylinder deactivation to maximize energy savings.  The Alfa Romeo Giulia also comes with Start/Stop technology for superior efficiency.

A true sensation, the all-aluminium 2.9-litre Bi-Turbo V6 engine may not be as big as some of the thirsty V8s but it does produce 377 kW of peak power, and 600 Nm of torque is begging between 2500-and-5500 rpm.  The Alfa Romeo Giulia boasts a top speed over 300 km/h while the 0-100 km/h sprint can be completed in under four seconds.  It is official, the Alfa Romeo Giulia has completed the Nurburgring in 7.39 minutes; placing it in the top 50 cars of all time.  This is also way quicker than Jaguar, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus equivalents.

Safety is a well thought out and prominent feature of the Alfa Romeo Giulia drive.  Forward Collision Warning- Plus provides autonomous braking and, under certain circumstances, slows or brings the vehicle to a full stop when a frontal collision appears imminent.  Another handy feature is the Lane Departure Warning system that alerts the driver of an unintended lane departure.   Complete with a full array of airbags in the front and rear areas of the car, the Alfa Romeo Giulia also has Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection and front- and rear-park assist sensors.
