Civic Sedan Series II

If you’re on the lookout for one of the best small sedans on the market, then you need to be looking at the latest Honda Civic Sedan Series II.

If you’re on the lookout for one of the best small sedans on the market, then you need to be looking at the latest Honda Civic Sedan Series II vehicles. Years of low cost motoring are a promise for the new Honda buyer. A comprehensive three year/100,000 km warranty is standard on all new cars.

Graceful in its appearance, the Series II Honda Civic Sedan has nice lines and conservative looks. You’ll be noticed for the car’s smart appearance and the lack of garish add-ons. Smooth, fluid lines ensure that the new Civic Sedan slips through the air and maximises fuel economy. Accessories are available for the Civic Sedan some for extra sportiness and some for practicality.

Three fine Honda engines are offered to the small Civic Sedan, all of which are sparkling performers. Firstly, a standard version of a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that happily spins through to the redline is a favourite. When you need an extra squirt of decisive performance this engine always responds., and it’s found in most of the Civic Sedans. This is a smooth engine that pulls powerfully from any portion of the engine rev’s range. Thriftiness is definitely in this car’s forte and you can expect a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.7 litres/100 km (auto). I own a Honda Accord with a similar engine to this one, and I am always impressed with its performance and efficiency.

Hybrid technology is offered in the form of a 2.0-litre Hybrid i-VTEC engine, which is a fine alternative for the Honda Civic Sedan Series II. Again it is impressive to experience the efficient way that the 2.0-litre puts its power down on the road. Combined fuel cycles work out at 4.4 litres/100 km.

For those who are looking to push the performance boundaries a little further, there is a 114 kW version of the lower output 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine (104 kW). If you want the honest truth, I think that the standard version feels as peppy, anyhow. But I guess if a few tenths of a second matter, then this will be the model you’ll enjoy.

The Honda Civic VTi is the entry model and has the option of a five-speed manual gearbox (6.8 litres/100 km). All other models, except the Hybrid, come with the smooth five-speed automatic transmission (6.7 litres/100 km). Interestingly enough, this is one of a few cars where the automatic version is more economical than the manual option. Hybrid versions are equipped with the very smooth CVT transmission.

All Civic Sedans come with a comprehensive safety list, and when the car flew through the ANCAP safety crash test with five stars it came as no surprise to see front, side and curtain airbags as standard items. ABS and BA are standard active safety features, while a Rear Park Assist is an optional extra on each of the Civic Sedans.

There is a nice cloth material that covers the bulk of Honda Civic Sedan Series II versions which looks and feels nice, and should stand the test of time. Leather is another option, and you’ll find this on the Civic Sport model. Honda is a master of creating small cars that offer big space on the inside. Rear seat leg room is excellent and there is still a very useful 440 litres of boot space. All models come with USB, iPOD and hands free phone technology. On the multi-function display in the centre of the dash iMID Wallpaper features can bring you information from all the car’s on-board systems. It can even display your favourite photos! Satellite navigation is a handy feature; but guys don’t need this sort of help…yeah, right! The satellite navigation system provides autonomous geo-spacial positioning.

Thinking that you like those musical airwaves? Then crystal clear sounds are provided through a grunty 160 Watt four-speaker audio system.

No matter what the elements are doing outside the car, you can stay in a relaxed Honda Civic Sedan Series II environment with an excellent automatic climate control system. Take yourself to the next level with the all new Honda Civic Sedan Series II. It has all the class and sophistication you’ll need.

  • VTi five-speed manual

  • VTi-L five-speed automatic
  • VTi-LN five-speed automatic
