In every stone there’s a crystal and, if you’re in the mood for something special and a little exotic, the new Citroen C4 Aircross has all the style and adventure for keeping you standing head and shoulders above the crowd. Getting a bit of fresh air and breaking off the shackles can be aided with a drive in a stylish new Citroen C4 Aircross.
Similar in vogue to a Honda CR-V or Hyundai iX35, the Citroen C4 Aircross has a design that is as elegant but, perhaps, a little more squat-looking. Bold detailing at the front, big wheel arches, LED running lights and a high waistline provide assertive looks that capture a fresh flavour suggesting that this car is ready for adventure. At the rear, the Citroen C4 Aircross signs off nicely with L-shaped taillights which are slanting downwards, instead of the more common upward trajectory.
Compact dimensions are roomy on the inside, with a 1540 mm track between the rear wheels and a 1545 mm track between the front wheels. An overall wheelbase of 2670 mm ensures that the front and rear overhang is minimal. Space across the Aircross rear seats is reasonable for big butts, while head and shoulder room is also pretty good. If you are lucky enough to be sitting in the driver’s seat, then you’ll enjoy a brilliant driving position that can be adjusted to perfection. Front passengers will have arm chair comfort. The Citroen C4 Aircross boasts a lot of handy storage space around the cabin area. The rear seat armrest has two cup-holders, and the front arm rest has a 12 Volt power outlet plus USB and audio connectors.
In terms of comfort, the Citroen C4 Aircross does have features that will pamper and impress. A panoramic glass sunroof has anti-ultra violet properties. What I love about this feature is that the Citroen C4 Aircross feels so light and fresh with all the light streaming in from above. Now that has to be good for you; it certainly gives you a lift on a grey day – let alone a sunny one. The leather covered steering wheel is multi-function, and it also can be height and reach adjusted. Audio, cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity are all accessed by buttons on the steering wheel. Grey cloth seating is appears smart and hard wearing.
The Citroen C4 Aircross comes with an AWD system that always seeks to find premium grip on all road surfaces. Always monitoring driver demands, road conditions and vehicle speed, your Citroen C4 Aircross is a true crossover vehicle, and the resulting handling and ride is sure and controlled. You can also select 2WD for superior economy. Lock mode is the choice for when you are off the beaten track and the going gets trickier. An increased supply of torque to the rear wheels is favoured in Lock mode.
For those of you who can do without the AWD system, there is a cheaper Citroen C4 Aircross 2WD model available. Running with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a CVT transmission means that you have smooth, progressive acceleration and fuel efficient performance. The CVT comes with a six-step “Sports” mode that enables you to manually change gears using paddle shifters. Now that’s the best of both worlds! A six-speed manual gearbox is also offered; and light, precise gear changes make this a great setup for economical cruising.
Based on Mitsubishi’s ASX soft-roader, the Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol, four-cylinder engine that develops 110 kW of power and 197Nm of torque. The Citroen C4 Aircross competes directly with the Nissan Dualis, Hyundai ix35, Volkswagen Tiguan and Toyota RAV4.
Safety is exceptional. So what are you waiting for? New Citroen C4 Aircross models have a 3 year/100,000 km warranty.
