2019 Subaru Forester

2019 Subaru Forester

We all like to able to get away for the weekend, slip outside and enjoy some fresh air, and find some adventure with the family away from the suburban jungle.  Subaru has given us a few generations of Forester models now, and with the 2018 model being the latest version available to buy it’s exciting to see the new design features and technology that this new Forester comes equipped with.  These are still great vehicles to drive, with few manufacturers able to match the great Subaru Forester price, features, versatility and AWD capability.

To look at, there’s no major exterior differences between the appearances of the 2019 model from the outgoing model.  A tweaked front end appears more upright, with a slimmer styling for the front bumper and headlights.  The rear of the new Subaru Forester sees a more elegantly styled pair of taillights with streamlined detailing, and a solid looking scrape plate under the bumper which houses the exhaust.  The new Forester has the familiar upright stance, high ground clearance and flared wheel arches which do give the station wagon some light SUV looks which will appeal to many.  Having grown larger as time has churned out the models, the latest Subaru Forester is a roomy, practical vehicle that has excellent space for family excursions.  2019 Foresters offer even larger dimensions over the outgoing models.

Inside the new Subaru Forester is plenty of space and a comfortable interior.  There’s more space now; better backseat access, and room for 3 slim-line car seats across the rear seat for carrying smaller kids.  This will be a point in the Forester’s favour which, as a car that appeals to families Mums or Dads who have to do the kindy or school run will appreciate the easy access to the spacious rear row of seats.  You’ll also have the space for the dog, too.  Being a station wagon the Forester swallows a great amount of luggage, and if you fit yours out with a luggage shield you can pack the boot right up to the roof.  Rear seats are split-folding for even more cargo capacity and function.

The new Subaru Forester is a well-equipped vehicle that boasts the all-new 6.5-inch or 8-inch infotainment system with its high definition graphics and cool features.  The system now comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  Rear seat occupants have access to USB ports, cup holders and plenty of storage space.  The one-touch electric 60/40 split-folding rear seats is a nice feature that will be loved by busy parents, and models come with audio and cruise controls on the multi-function steering wheel.  Bluetooth hands-free calling and streaming audio capability is a nice feature of the new Subaru Forester.  Some models even come out with a stylish electric sunroof and tailgate.  Premium Forester models come with a premium leather interior and electronically adjustable heated front seats.  Standard models get a smart cloth fabric for the seat covering.

New Subaru Forester

You’ll appreciate the dash design, which for me appears nicely laid out with plenty of style.  Cabin style and design is a step up from the outgoing model in every sense.  Well done Subaru for making a really nice quality cabin experience.

A Subaru Forester, for some time now, has been a very safe car with a five-star crash testing record.  This means that when you are driving the latest Subaru Forester, you will be travelling in one of the safest cars in its class.  2019 sees new features that includes a Driver Monitoring System which uses facial recognition to identify and monitor you while you drive.  There is also Subaru’s updated clever crash-avoidance technology called EyeSight.  EyeSight technology is an extra pair of eyes on the road ahead, and this technology is standard in each new Subaru Forester model.  A rear reversing camera, cruise control, a handsfree phone, a Blind Spot Monitoring system, EyeSight crash avoidance technology, an electronic park brake and Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH) add to the nice grippy AWD chassis for safe predictable Subaru handling.

Under the hood lies a sprightly 4-cylinder Boxer engine with a 2.5-litre capacity.  Rated at 136 kW at 5600 rpm for power and 230 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm, the Forester has plenty of grunt for the open road and for towing a light trailer or boat.  You can tow an un-braked trailer up to 750 kg.  Obviously, the Symmetrical AWD system with active torque-split works magic when the road conditions become slippery, which also bodes well with 220 mm of ground clearance making the new Forester perfect for heading off-road for a spot of fishing or heading happily down the dirt roads to the farm.

New car prices range from between the mid-thirties to mid-forty k mark; so when all is said and done, you will have yourself a great new car product for years of hassle-free motoring.  Subarus tend to give little trouble – especially for the first few owners.  Oh, and they are a smooth CVT drive for a relaxed, easy drive.
