Peugeot 208 GT Line

Peugeot cars are always an exciting brand of car which offers style, comfort and practicality.  The right blend of sport and luxury are found in Peugeot’s new 208 GT Line Hatch.  With a number of GTi-inspired interior and exterior design enhancements, when you drive the new 208 GT Line, you’ll discover a small Hatch with a strong, dynamic, and sporty personality.  And with the sportiness, the GT Line also offers plenty of luxury to balance the fun driving experience.

Climb inside the fun new Peugeot 208 GT Line, and you’ll enjoy a quality passenger cabin that’s comprehensively sporty, with a variety of touches that echo the performance interior of the iconic 208 GTi model.  Inside the cabin, whether you sit in the front or the rear of the 208 GT Line hatchback, the cabin flaunts attractive black and red sports seats with red stitching.  You’ll also find this smart combination on the car’s door panels and gear lever grip.  Other detailing like the gloss black door handles with red lines at the front, a leather sports steering wheel with a flat base section, red interior stitching, aluminium Peugeot-branded door sill finishers and aluminium pedals make for a special 208 GT Line flavour.

When seated in position, the driver has great flexibility with the adjustable steering wheel column and the driver’s seat adjustment to get the ideal driving position behind the wheel of the new Peugeot 208 GT Line Hatch.  Soft touch materials and trim around the steering wheel and dash give the 208 GT Line a high-quality feel, and the flashy centre display screen looks classy, too.  I’ve always been a fan of the way Peugeot pushes the envelope to create eye-catching cabin space design.  That’s one of the big reasons you’ll buy a new Peugeot 208 over a Mitsubishi Colt, Nissan Micra or Toyota Yaris; they just look better and are more exciting to drive.

All the latest gizmos are there.  You’ll be enjoying the new Peugeot 208 GT Line hatch with its multi-function colour touch screen with finger-tip control of all the car’s audio, communications and navigation equipment.  Safety systems, driver assistance, Stop & Start (S&S) technology, Active City Brake, Self-Park Assist, an Electronic Stability Program, and reversing camera are available for giving the best small hatch drive.  There is a nice sounding six-speaker audio system as well, automatic controlled climate air with pollen filtering.  The 208 GT Line has satellite navigation and even an air-conditioned glovebox.

Under the bonnet of the new 208 GT Line is the award winning ‘International Engine of the Year’ for the 1.0 – 1.4-litre category.  Peugeot has created a commanding 1.2-litre, 81 kW PureTech turbo petrol engine with Stop & Start technology.  A combined fuel consumption figure of under 5 litres/100 km is great for the fuel efficiency fans out there, and this is thanks to a wonderfully linked EAT6 six-speed automatic gearbox which uses Quickshift technology allowing faster changes.  The new engine and transmission layout for the 208 GT Line makes for a CO₂ emissions of just over 100g/km.

Without being intense, progression is sprightly, and the ride quality of the 208 chassis is very responsive and agile.  It’s easy to like the ride quality, particularly when the streets get a little bumpy.  The High Pressure Turbo charged electronic multipoint direct injection with variable valve timing on inlet and exhaust valves creates zippy, responsive performance with 205 Nm available from just 1500 rpm.  Sprint times to 0-100 km/h are clocked at a little under 11 seconds.

Rear seat room is very good for the small hatch class, while the luggage space is on the smaller side (311 litres).  With the rear seats down, the space grows to 1152 litres.

Sitting on 17-inch alloys and boasting streamlined taillights, cornering front fog lamps, and a high waistline, the new 208 GT Line has an aggressive undertone to the way the car holds itself when parked next to its competitors.  So, for a pleasurable small hatch ride; a ride that feels much bigger than it is, the new Peugeot 208 GT Line impresses.
