2021 Lexus RX

No less than 15 models are available to those on the watch for a smart looking 2021 Lexus RX.  These stylish SUVs are beautifully made and superbly luxurious.  Their build quality is as good as you’ll find anywhere, and you’ll find that Lexus vehicles are among the most reliable vehicles you can buy.  The RX isn’t cheap, but then you do get what you pay for; and it is a comfort to know that there is unlikely to be any major repair bills after the initial ouch of purchase.

New Lexus vehicles are strikingly attractive cars to behold.  The Lexus design team do a magnificent job at making a box on four wheels look incredibly stylish, and the 2021 Lexus RX doesn’t stray from this achievement.  The new RX is an accomplishment of bringing together an aerodynamic SUV shape with beautiful, angular lines and shapely curves and letting the dished panels capture the sunlight in a mesmerizing masterclass.  There is plenty of chrome, vivid colouring and awesome metallic paint finishes that are ready to dazzle.

So, with all that as an introduction, the 2021 Lexus RX is a large luxury Wagon/SUV with 5 doors.  Inside the new RX you’ll find copious amounts of premium furnishings with lavish leather and accented stitching gracing many of the beautiful surfaces.  The interior of a new Lexus is as strikingly beautiful as the outside, if not more so because you get to enjoy the tactile nature on a more intimate level.  Spending time in the cossetting Lexus interior is not a tough grind.

Available as a five or seven-seater, the 2021 Lexus RX ensures you have the right amount of space to cater for your needs.  One of these vehicles makes a brilliant family vehicle, where it will easily ferry the kids or friends about with excellent space and comfort.  There is plenty of storage compartments inside the cabin, with a big centre console and a large glovebox leading the way.  Extendable bottle holders and cup holders are standard.  Wireless charging for your mobile phone, heated and ventilated seats, and a whopping infotainment screen with all the wonderful apps to entertain and inform are standard.  In the back seats you have loads of room with reclining seats.  Three adults can sit across the rear bench no problems, though the middle seat might be a bit tight for head space, particularly if you go for the model with the glass roof.

Head around the back of the RX and the electric tailgate opens up to a useful boot capacity.  You can simply hold your hand over the Lexus badge on the tailgate for a few seconds and the boot will open up by itself.  A number of hybrid components are tucked away under the boot floor, so that makes the volume inside the boot considerably less than you’ll find in some of the rivalling large luxury SUVs.  A BMW X5 or Hyundai Palisade, for instance, have huge amounts of boot space.  Petrol only versions also get similar dimensions in the boot, which is odd.  The luggage area itself measures 453 litres with the rear seats up, and then 924 litres with them folded flat.  That is quite small for what is a large SUV in all other respects.

There is an assortment of engines spanning the huge range of models available to the 2021 Lexus RX line-up.  The six-speed automatic links up nicely with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine found in the base model.  175 kW of power and 350 Nm of torque make the RX 300 a responsive drive.  The eight-speed automatic is very smooth inside the new 3.5-litre V6 RX 350 where you have plenty of grunt and pace when you need it.  This engine has 221 kW of power and 370 Nm of torque on tap.  The same eight speed gearbox or a CVT-transmission is available to the top of the range Lexus RX 450h V6 hybrid.  With 230 kW and 335 Nm the flagship is smooth, quiet, quick and efficient.  Depending on your choice of luxury RX, there’s an option between FWD or AWD.  AWD makes all the difference is you want to do a few roads less travelled.

When tested by ANCAP in 2015, the Lexus RX was given a five-star safety rating.  Safety tech includes dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtain airbags), and a driver knee airbag as standard.  There are seat belt reminders fitted to all seats.  Excellent crash-avoidance features including autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control plenty of other familiar features available as standard.

The 2021 Lexus RX is a spacious, luxurious SUV that competes successfully against the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Range Rover Sport and Audi Q7.  A new Land Rover Defender or Jaguar F-Pace are two other potential vehicles you may like to look at.  That said, it is very hard to get around a brand that boasts the best reliability and a bunch of very satisfied owners.
