2020 Lexus RC-F

The new 2020 Lexus RC-F Track Edition is a super exciting car that delivers on all performance fronts.  It’s exciting because it’s got a 5.0-litre V8 under the bonnet, it’s been updated with lighter components and there is plenty of carbon fibre material throughout which makes the car so much lighter.

There won’t be a heap of the Track Editions models made, so if you want one you’ll need to be in quick.  The Lexus RC-F Track Edition looks gorgeous and is very fast.  Crouched low to the ground with a very low profile stance, this new RC-F Track Edition looks and means business.  A carbon fibre bonnet and front air dam keep the load light at the front, but there are also some purpose designed air intakes as well as air cooling spaces which look really nice on the eye.  Then there is that grille which falls over the RC-F nose like a waterfall, and in my book is the nicest coupe design out there.  Lexus uses prominent red brake calipers and shimmering carbon fibre panels at the front.  Head out to the rear of the Track Edition car and the spunky little carbon fibre spoiler looks a treat with its square, angled lines offsetting the RC-F’s superbly aerodynamic curves.  The quad exhaust tips have a blue tinge that not only looks cool but is such because the exhaust system is made of titanium components.

The lighter track edition models boast massively good carbon ceramic Brembo brakes, 19-inch lightweight BBS alloys and a carbon fibre roof to boot.  These features plus some other lightweight designs has enabled a weight loss of 80 kg. That’s a lot of weight loss for this type of sports coupe.

Enter into the Lexus RC-F Track Edition cabin and the interior is a gorgeous world of lovely exclusive red carbon fibre trim embellishment and red alcantara leather trim that is loud and aggressive but also superbly stylish and sexy.  It is the perfect place to be!  Even the rear seats are superlative.  Comfortable and supportive race seats, lots of cool techie gear, but there have been one or two emissions like heating and ventilation systems in the seats in order to keep the weight right down once again.  There is no doubt you’ve arrived, and you really get a sense of the special occasion when seated inside a new Lexus RC-F Track Edition.

More power, more torque, and boasting launch control as part of the tweaked eight-speed auto, and you have yourself one heck of a quick car.  A 0-100 km/h sprint time takes around the four second mark, while the handling of a Lexus RC-F Track Edition is nothing short of sublime and more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

If you don’t manage to get your mitts on a Track Edition model, then the standard 2020 Lexus RC-F is only a smidgeon slower to 100 km/h.  Base models have been given more power and torque as well, and they are sensationally nice and fast cars to drive.  They will do the 0-100 km/h dash in a few tenths quicker than the outgoing model – thanks mostly to the Launch Control system and the brand new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.  Power is still sent to just the rear wheels, and the Launch Control aids take off!

Standard 2020 Lexus RC-F models come with all the latest refinements, luxury and technology, and one thing is for sure: you’re definitely going to stand out at the car park!  The new RC-F has had an updated design along with more performance.  The stacked LED headlights, the integrated DRLs and the new tail light design are obvious clean styling differences but some subtle changes to the front and rear bumpers have also occurred.

Some new Lexus RC F technology includes the latest Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Departure Warning systems, as well as offering eight SRS airbags.

What other options can you buy that deliver similar performance, style and luxury?  There is the BMW M4, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Audi RS5, Mercedes AMG models and even something like an Infiniti Q60 Red Sport.  But it’s really hard to overlook Lexus’s great-sounding 5.0-litre V8 that’s matched to such an accommodating chassis – and then there’s the looks!

The 2020 Lexus RC-F models include the:

  • Lexus RC-F
