Thinking back a few years, and I’m talking a few because can any of you remember back to the days of the old E-Type Jaguar?  This machine had a 3.0-litre engine that could put out 198 kW.  The V12 E-Type punched over 200 kW,but even this came well short of the base model F-Type V6.  What we can see in the new Jaguar is how technology has really advanced, such that smaller engines can provide so much more power and much, much better fuel economy than yesteryear.

Why would you need more performance than the base model F-Type, really?  Yes, the Jaguar F-Type Convertible V6 S is a tweaked version of the V6 base model, and the V8 S packs 364 kW and 625 Nm (enough to send you up to 300 km/h).  When you’ve got a body shape and size similar to that of the Mazda MX5 with more than double the power, any of the three Jaguar F-Type Convertible models are sensationally quick.  Get behind the wheel of one of these babies, and the car’s explosive speed is truly impressive.  Like the Mazda MX5, the Jaguar F-Type V6 and V6S convertibles boast 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution – the perfect mix for superior handling.  The chassis set-up has adjustable double-wishbones at the front and rear, and all S-models have adaptive dampers.
