Hyundai i30 SR

Hyundai i30 SR

Sportier, faster and just a great car to drive, Hyundai have created a nice blend of i30 style and SR dynamism.  What I like about the new Hyundai i30 SR is that the five-door hatch accommodates a small family while allowing for a good dose of driving pleasure.  The Hyundai i30 SR is available solely with the 2.0 GDI petrol engine – which means that there is a useful bit of power under the hood for when you need it.

Inside the Hyundai i30 SR are all the beaut driver aids and luxury features most people will want – and a few more.  It’s a well-appointed car, in fact, the Hyundai i30 SR boasts Elite packaging/features but includes a wider scope for more sporty overtones and exciting techno items.  Innovative technologies make driving in an i30 SR easier, while adding to ride comfort and enjoyment.  The i30 SR’s boasts an advanced satellite navigation system that is displayed on a full-colour 7-inch touch-screen, so you’ll know exactly where you are and where you should be going on any road in Australia.  The navigation system also features live SUNA traffic updates.  This is such a cool feature because no one likes the hassle of major delays in their driving schedule!

Entry into the small hatchback is via a Smart Key entry, where you’ll note that the swanky interior of the i30 SR looks snazzy and provides nice materials.  With having the Smart Key entry, puddle lamps switch on when the vehicle is unlocked with the Smart Key.  When you come to the car at night, the extra lighting of the ground area around the front doors to makes getting into the car easier and safer.  When approaching the i30 SR, sensors detect the Smart Key that sits inside your pocket and proceed to unlock the vehicle.  Once you’re in the driver’s seat, you don’t need a key to start the engine, you just push the start button.

Cabin temperature can be held at the preferred temperature with the powerful fully automatic climate control system.  The dual-zone feature on the climate control ensures that the rear seat passengers are not forgotten.

Hyundai’s i30 SR hatchback brings a little more fun into the equation of ownership.  Paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2.0-litre GDI engine offers plenty of power and relaxed cruising for every journey.  Offering 20% more power and 19% more torque than the 1.8 MPI engine featured in other i30 models, simple physics tells you that the car will accelerate quicker and pull stronger when passing slower traffic, will be more capable fully laden and genuinely less stressed for most everyday tasks.  The 0-100 km/h dash can be completed in around eight seconds.

One of the interesting facts about the new Hyundai i30 SR is that the chassis has been developed locally for Australia’s unique conditions.  This means that the sports suspension has a tuned feel that provides sharp and accurate handling.  A neat feature that Hyundai have added for making the drive a little more special in the i30 SR hatchback is the steering can be adjusted and customised to your own tastes.  Flex Steer enables you to customise your steering to your environment by changing the weight of the steering and the amount of feedback you receive from the road.  Essentially three settings are available: Normal, Sport and Comfort.

If you’re looking for a small, roomy hatch, then the i30 body shape looks good and offers one of the roomiest cabins in its class.  The Hyundai i30 SR comes with 60:40 split rear seats that fold flat, and when they are folded down flat, a massive 1316 litres of cargo-carrying capacity is tremendous.  Leather seats are standard.

Sitting on sporty 17-inch alloy wheels, the i30 SR looks the goods.  Things like the sports rear diffuser, painted sports front grille with piano black insert, HID Xenon headlamps and alloy sports pedals provide a sportier tone to the i30’s already handsome looks.  Bang-for-your-buck is right up there with the best of them.  The new Hyundai i30 SR a nice drive, and one that should go the distance – given Hyundai’s robust nature.

Current Hyundai i30 SR models include the:

  • Hyundai i30 SR six-speed manual
  • Hyundai i30 SR six-speed automatic
