2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

Inside of us all is a sense of adventure, and with so much to see, Australia has some of the best sights to enjoy around the world.  The best thing is it’s all in our own backyard.  So, climb aboard the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Diesel SUV and see how our own backyard will become such a wide activity base for adventure.  Having a skilful vehicle that’s suited for a range of road and off-road conditions is essential for getting the most from a trip around and about Australia.  Hyundai’s new Santa Fe is one of those vehicles that has the talent and reliability to get you around Australia in comfort and style.

The fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe SUV sits on a new platform that is longer and wider.  Having larger dimensions means that space for occupants and luggage has increased making this a wonderfully comfortable touring SUV.  A lovely interior has all the right amounts of luxury offering all the latest technology and features in a simple, functional layout that continues to be reliable over long periods from new.  Hyundai and Kia are leading the way in consumer surveys seeking out the most reliable and hassle-free marques bought new.  Hyundai’s high level of modern technology is kept simple in function and thus remains problem free for longer than other automotive marques who have seemed to have over-complicated their electrical components.

To look at, the 2019 Santa Fe is a very sleek and eye-catching large SUV.  The fourth generation sees Hyundai designers creating very modern and striking lines with stunning attention to detail around exterior features.  With a sharp, new-look front-end the headlights are actually the larger set that below the slimmer DRLs.  A big, bold grille and larger, more upright, dimensions sets this apart from its Kona sibling.

Premium 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs are able to seat seven in the Santa Fe Diesel models.  The third row folds flat to reveal massive boot space for the family.  There are 12V outlets for running auxiliary systems while all seats have a reclining feature to go along with their very supple and comfortable seating ergonomics.  Beautiful leather seats are electronically adjustable and boast heating and cooling functions in the high-end Santa Fe models.  Base trim Santa Fes still get lovely comfortable seats and well-equipped interiors.  Yes, you can choose the more common black/silver interiors, but there is a choice of brown and royal blue leather interiors as well as a range of rough and smooth textures to choose from.  Premium?  Most definitely.

An 8-inch touchscreen is available on upper trims, while the lower-end Santa Fe uses a 7-inch unit.  Phone connection, Blue Link, Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay, DMB, Radio and music streaming are functions that will be enjoyed by 2019 Santa Fe occupants.  Drivers get to sit behind a lovely clear instrument panel with angular surrounds and beautiful blue lighting.  The thin-film-transistor liquid-crystal display (TFT) has the ability to select multiple instrumentation layouts – pretty cool – and like the premium Kona models, there’s a legible and informative heads-up-display which works well and looks really good.  South Korean designers are making a name for themselves as being amazing automotive designers.  They are some of the best in the automotive business.

There are two smooth petrol power plants for the Santa Fe, but I reckon the real gem in the line-up is the new 2.2-litre Turbo Diesel.  The 2.2-liter turbodiesel-4 rated at 142 kW of peak power, and 440 Nm of torque from low down in the revs, is the perfect blend of performance and easily keeps up with class leaders.  Diesel Santa Fes will deliver better fuel-efficiency ratings than its petrol siblings, and Hyundai suggest improvements equate to a better average km/l than the outgoing model – which was already good at less than 8 litres/100 km on averge.  With plenty of grunt you’ll easily pull a fully laden trailer or caravan (2200 kg braked).  A lighter new eight-speed automatic gearbox replaces the six-speed unit of the current model.  With the extra two gears the Santa Fe has a wider spread of ratios.  The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe boasts improvements to the adaptive 4wd system that also adds more driving modes.  Heading off-road in the new Santa Fe is a breeze, and there is plenty of traction and ground clearance for going places.

Many active safety features will come as standard trim, and buyers can specify things like adaptive cruise with stop and go, high-beam assist, forward collision avoidance and a 360-degree camera system.  There is also a driver attention warning system, Rear Seat Occupant Alert and Safe Exit Assist – which temporarily prevents doors from being opened into traffic when the system detects that a wheeled object is approaching from behind.

Riding high and looking over the car in front gives you a nice sense of security.  Hyundai’s newest Santa Fe rides sweetly and feels nice and stable on the road.  Even fully laden with a bunch of lads it retains good composure through the corners and rides nicely over roads that are a bit puckered.

I think the brand new Hyundai Santa Fe has excellent stylish looks with the stronger, larger new body, and it offers more room and premium upmarket cabin furnishings.  This is a really good vehicle with great build quality and refinement, and one that satisfies the urge for adventure inside all of us.
