Haval H6

Haval vehicles might be new to us down here in Australia, but they are a premium and successful Chinese brand.  The new Haval H6 is a 2WD SUV that is very affordable and seeks to make life a little easier for its driver and passengers.

Two models of the Haval H6 are available: the Premium and Lux versions.  Comfortable seating is roomy and supportive for both versions, and the Lux model is the one that gets the royal treatment with electrically adjustable heated front and rear seats.  Nice clean lines about the cabin are matched with a feeling of quality materials, design and technology.  Both the Premium and the Lux models come with a four-way adjustable steering column so it is very stress-free for any shape and size to find the best position behind the wheel of the all-new H6.  Laser puddle lights, privacy glass and cruise control are standard features, too.

When seated in the H6 you have an elevated view of the road ahead, the cabin is spacious and there is plenty of natural light available for the cabin during the day.  A dark black interior looks very smart and there is a dashing of chrome detailing to go around.  There is a no cost option for grey, brown or black/brown interior complexion.  The black/brown tones boast a rich quality.  Dual-zone climate air control, electric windows and selectable mood lighting are all standard features for the Haval H6.

When it comes to entertainment, the new Haval H6 produces plenty of options.  A really nice seven speaker surround sound is available for the Premium model, while the Lux gets eight speakers.  CD, AUX IN and USB ports are available, while a fabulous Bluetooth Handsfree system is provided.  A clear responsive 7-inch TFT Touch screen provides access to MP5, USB, AUX and SD cards.  All of these features can be easily controlled from the steering wheel, making life easy for the driver.

Under the hood the Haval H6 boasts a powerful 2.0-litre turbo direct injection petrol engine with a Getrag six-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) doing a fine job of making the drive quiet and smooth.  There is solid safe grip, and the front independent MacPherson strut suspension combined with double wishbone independent rear suspension tracks accurately and responds positively to any changes in direction.  Putting out 145 kW of power at 5200 rpm and 315 Nm at 2000 rpm, the Haval H6 feels very responsive and smooth.  You get to select between three driving options, and these settings are: Economy, Standard and Sports mode.  The H6 is a nice drive, providing power when you need it and a relaxed comfortable ride.

Safety in the Haval H6 is taken care of with very modern safety systems in place.  Blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, a Bosch designed Electronic Stability Program, Brake Assist and Daytime running lights all being standard features.  Hill Descent and Hill Start Assist make the H6 a breeze to drive in what could be difficult and risky driving situations for some.

A big boot, roof rails and a healthy towing capacity make the new Haval H6 a great practical travelling companion.  For a very affordable and capable 2WD SUV, the Haval H6 should impress.  If you need 4WD then the big Haval H9 is well worth a look.
