2018 BMW X3 xDrive30d

BMW X3 xDrive30d

Are you hanging out for the new BMW X3 diesel like a child waiting for Christmas morning?  The latest BMW diesel X3 has arrived and it is well worth the wait.  A big performer, the BMW X3 xDrive30d answers the big questions with a confidence and swankiness you’d expect from a State of Origin rugby league player.

Sprints are part of any big league fitness programme, so you don’t want to be the slowest or you’ll end up doing more push-ups than game time.  Big muscles and a big ticker win the day; so when you discover the power that lies within the new BMW X3 xDrive30d SUV, you’ll be amazed at how the acceleration of the mighty TwinPower Turbo diesel engine really can shove you along smartly.  It’s a familiar inline-six BMW layout but with two turbo units attached to force air into the intake system for maximum power.  BMW’s inline 6-cylinder uses two-stage turbocharging that provides an output of 195 kW of maximum power.  But the real shove comes from the 620 Nm of torque that starts surging down low and keeps pulling, allowing the mid-size SUV to scamper through the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.8 seconds.

State of Origin players need to be able to give a hundred-and-ten percent for the full eighty minutes, requiring plenty of ground to be covered before the final whistle blows.  Covering a long distance between fill-ups is part of the X3 30d’s forte.  You can expect to see an average fuel consumption figure well below 8 litres/100 km for this sport/luxury SUV.  BMW claim 6.0 litres/100 km is attainable most of the time.  Emissions for this exciting new model are as low as 159 g/km of C02.  This is quite remarkable for such a grunty diesel motor.

It’s pointless being able to run through the gaps on attack but not be able to back that performance up on defence.  Tackling is as essential as the running and passing skills for a professional NRL player.  Getting dirty and making the big hits are the norm, so when it comes to tackling the rough stuff the new BMW X3 xDrive30d is probably the best model that’s most apt at getting the off-road work done.  With massive torque available at any engine revs the 30d is versatile off the road with impressive traction to take you up forestry tracks and beyond.  The ground clearance and wheel articulation isn’t as good as a dedicated 4×4 but that’s to be expected.  You should be impressed with how this X model can get you over the ditch, up to the ski slopes, across the muddy paddock and more.  Even in adverse weather conditions or on slippery surfaces the xDrive AWD is what you’ll want to have to see you through.  You’ll enjoy being able to switch between various driving modes as the driving conditions and surfaces change.  So, with impressive power and customised driving modes at your fingertips, the BMW X3 xDrive30d provides an outstanding driving experience both on and off the road.  AWD traction on the tarmac is superb, and with the X3’s agile chassis, you’ll be loving the moment.

BMW X3 xDrive30d Split-fold Luggage Space

Make sure you pack for any destination.  The BMW X3 can accommodate everything your adventure requires.  There is plenty of cabin storage, while the cargo space reaches an impressive 1600 litres thanks to the 40:20:40 split rear seats.  BMW X3 30d occupants will enjoy uncompromised comfort with three-zone automatic climate control, offering separate customisable controls for the driver, front and rear passengers.

Most NRL athletes have a great physique, and to be an athlete requires you shed as much excess weight as possible.  The new BMW X3 xDrive30d has nice proportions and carries pint-sized podge so you’ve got a really nice looker in the 2018 X3 models.  With the 30d X3 version the sporty package does make it look really dynamic.  You can opt for your 30d to come shod with gorgeous 20-inch Y-spoke style rims which really fill out the flared wheel arches very nicely, indeed.  Up front is the widened kidney grille that looks bold and aggressive – just so you know it’s a Beemer!

BMW X3 xDrive30d Interior

Inside, BMW have given the X3 30d a model specific upholstery trim where the leather ‘Vernasca’ seats are Mocha coloured, and the decorative stitching and black interior colour tones match sweetly.  You’ve got plenty of kit for show – as well as for practical purposes.  Your BMW X3 SUV comes with a Comfort Access System, where you have keyless access and contactless operation of the rear tailgate.  In behind the steering wheel is a multifunctional instrument display that is 12.3-inches in size, and the high-resolution colour display with black-panel technology does look really crisp and clear.

Modern adaptive LED headlights with their high-beam assistance makes driving at night enjoyable and safe.  Even if you happen to be driving on a dark and gloomy night, you won’t be getting lost in any hurry because the X3 30d comes standard with a premium navigation system.  A state-of-the-art 10.25-inch touchscreen offers a split-screen for more options.  The BMW iDrive touch controller is really effective and easy to use.  Satellite navigation imagery can be seen in a 3D view, while the trip planner feature makes planning a breeze.  Love your music?  Then you’ll have your tracks sorted with this model boasting a big 20GB hard drive for storage of all your favourite audio data.

Any of the new X3 models are a joy to drive.  This is by far-and-away the best model series yet.  BMW has made the new X3 dynamic and enjoyable to drive on the road, making it a pleasure to spend the time racking up the miles.  The new BMW X3 xDrive30d has a tight hold on the road and the car grips beautifully for swift progress on country roads.  Inside the cabin the ride is comfortable and relaxed, with the lightweight and smooth-running gear keeping noise low.  BMW’s award-winning high precision direct injection and valvetronic technologies keep the driving experience fun for the driving enthusiast.  It’s an eight speed auto with paddle shifters for those who like to fidget – by the way.

Standard safety equipment includes Driving Assistant Plus, active cruise control with a stop and go function, cross traffic warning at the front of the vehicle, steering and lane control assist, lane keeping assist, side collision warning, park assist, active Park Distance Control (PDC) at the rear, a 360 degree view around the car and the full array of airbags.  The new X3 performs very well in recent crash testing making it a safe SUV buy.

Definitely a luxury/sport mid-size SUV to be proud of, the swanky new BMW X3 xDrive30d should tick all the right boxes for you.  This one is superb!
