Renault Megane

Model Update

Yes, there has been some updates for the talented Renault Megane. You might be on the look out for a roomy small-to-medium sized hatch. And aside from the excellent Honda Civic and refined VW Golf, there isn’t too much to bother the latest Renault Megane.

You’ll notice that the chassis is beautifully supple, which results in both a taut and comfortable drive for all occupants. Add to ride comfort, superior seats and you can see that Renault have sought to get the important things right. There is no skimping on safety. The latest Renault Megane takes out another five-star safety award. Things like traction stability control and six airbags are standard across the range.

Quick engines put the icing on the cake, because every model has a stack of luxury features laid on with plenty of the famous French style. There’s a cabriolet version, as well.

The all new Renault Megane II could be described as being a sleek, stylish and very sporty touring car. With a wide array of choices in amongst the model lineup, there are plenty of options to suit buyers’ tastes and preferences. A choice of a 2 door, 4 door, hatchback, sedan and even a convertible make the car one of the most versatile in its class.

The Renault Megane adds excitement to daily commuting duties, the school run and those family holiday get-aways. The style begins outside where the exterior lines capture speed and flair from the sharp angular headlights, a wide open air foil in the front air dam, steep A-pillar lines, and a very dramatic and sharp drop-off over the back end of the hatchback model. If you drive a Megane, you won’t go by unnoticed.

Hop inside the very well put together cabin, and you notice straightaway that the French flamboyance continues. Unmistakably classy, the modern individualistic fascia and instrument layout is light years ahead of its more mundane rivals. Stacked with standard luxury items, the Megane has the goods to make travel very relaxed and enjoyable. The lumbar adjustment on the driver’s seat combines wth height adjustments and an adjustable steering wheel to make the seat exceedingly voluptuous to sit in. Climate control air conditioning with an air-recycling particle filter, a 4x15w AM/FM CD stereo with fingertip control, a trip computer, an outside temperature gauge, front and rear armrests, electric windows, time delay courtesy lights, 60/40 split fold rear seats and an air-chilled glove box all come as standard items. The Renault Megane is already loaded, but you might like to add a few options in the form of a satellite navigation system, with pre-wired radio telephone, and an upgraded audio entertainment system that boasts 6-speakers and a 6-CD multi-changer. Storage space impresses. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to pop onboard items inside.

The Renault Megan CC is a cabriolet version that has style and a very competitive price. It has a folding glass roof! This, of course, is super modern and very fashionable. Under the bonnet of the Cabriolet is a 2.0 litre 99 kW engine that moves along very nicely. You can find the same engine inside a number of the Megane versions. The base model Megane II has a very economical 1.6 litre motor engine with an average fuel economy figure of 7 litres/100 km. For those who like to see the world pass by at speed, then the 2.0 litre petrol has 98 kW and plenty of response on demand. The real mover in the range is the R’sport F1 team R26 that can hurtle to 100 km/h from standstill in a little over six seconds. The slightly less powerful R’sport 225 boasts 300 Nm and 165 kW. This allows for another sub-seven second dash to 100km/h. If diesel tickles your fancy, then you will not be let down with Renaults very fine Megane 1.9 Litre Turbo diesel. So flexible and refined is the Megane diesel that long journeys are performed effortlessly. A choice between 5 and 6-speed manual gearboxes or a 4-speed adaptive automatic gearbox means that power is supplied to the front wheels quietly and efficiently.

The Renault Megane II has an impressive list of safety features. Renault is one of the best in the world when it comes to five star safety, so you will find the Megane II comprehensively loaded. ABS Anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist assure you stop when you want to stop. Front passenger and driver two stage adaptive airbags with a deactivation switch for the front passenger airbag allow children to ride in the coveted front passenger seat. There are front and rear lateral airbags as well as front and rear curtain airbags. ESP with ASR traction control and CSV-under steer control helps keep you on the road. Rear parking sensors alert you when you’re getting too close to an object. And the tyre pressure monitors let you know when there is insufficient pressure in your tyres.

The Renault Megane is an exceptional touring vehicle, one that, once you sit in, you will not want to get out of. Think Renault – think style, safety and comfort.
