{"id":10798,"date":"2020-06-04T14:19:34","date_gmt":"2020-06-04T04:19:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/?p=10798"},"modified":"2020-06-19T23:53:34","modified_gmt":"2020-06-19T13:53:34","slug":"great-evs-available-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/automotive-design\/great-evs-available-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Great EVs Available in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever wanted to bite the bullet and go over to electric?\u00a0 Driving electric is getting a little more popular, particularly as EV technology has moved on since the electric postie mobile, electric milk float or electric ice cream van.\u00a0 EVs are appealing in that they offer zero emissions (once built) and offer much lower running costs.\u00a0 The other thing about EVs is that they are rather fast; delivering a strong surge of power that is immediate \u2013 and the acceleration is unlike anything seen in the present and past world of combustion engines.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some EVs you can buy in Australia:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10799\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10799\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10799\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/audi-e-tron-blog-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10799\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Audi e-Tron<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Audi e-Tron (approx $120k at least)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The e-tron is a high-end EV with Audi\u2019s enviable build quality and interior finish being part of the e-tron lifestyle.\u00a0 This is a nice German EV which uses a dual-motor setup with a choice of two battery sizes and power outputs: the e-tron 50 with a 71 kWh battery and 225 kW, or the e-tron 55 with its 95 kWh battery and 300 kW output. The driving range is between 300 and 480 km, all of which are refined and relaxed.<\/p>\n<p>If you are doing bigger mileage and longer stints behind the wheel, then the e-tron is a great place to spend time.\u00a0 Passenger and luggage space are excellent, and this is a fine EV from Audi.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10800\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10800\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/bmw-i3-blog-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10800\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">BMW i3<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>BMW i3 (approx $70k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BMW\u00a0i3\u00a0was BMW\u2019s first electric car, and it brought a quality edge to the compact EV world.\u00a0 The car is efficient and even uses recycled materials inside the cabin. There\u2019s lots of space in the front seats.<\/p>\n<p>A new i3 is made from carbon-fibre, boasts a 42.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, and has a 300 km range.\u00a0 The more powerful i3 gets a 134 kW motor that can send this little car from 0 \u2013 100 km\/h in 6.9 seconds.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10801\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10801\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/hyundai-ioniq-electric-blog-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10801\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hyundai Ioniq Electric<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Hyundai Ioniq Electric (approx $50k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Hyundai Ioniq EV had a facelift last year which gave the car a new lease of life in the form of a 100 kW motor linked to a 38 kWh battery, which has upped the car\u2019s official driving range to over 300 km.You also get a 50 kW fast-charger that will replenish a flat battery to 80% in less than an hour.\u00a0 At home on the standard 7 kW wallbox you can fully charge the Ioniq in just over six hours.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Ioniq cars boast a decent boot size and excellent infotainment systems.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10802\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10802\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10802\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/hyundai-kona-electric-blog-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10802\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hyundai Kona Electric<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Hyundai Kona Electric (approx $60k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hyundai\u2019s electric SUV is going to be a good choice for those wanting EV in SUV styling.\u00a0 This small electric SUV comes with a 64 kWh battery and has a range of over 400 km on a full charge. \u00a0With its 150 kW motor the Hyundai Kona scampers from a standstill to 100 km\/h in around 7.6 seconds, which is very smart \u2013 quicker than most small SUVs.\u00a0 It comes with an instant hit of power when you push the accelerator. \u00a0The interior is roomy, the infotainment excellent, and there&#8217;s a\u00a0332-litre boot space.\u00a0 It\u2019s got to be liked.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10803\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10803\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10803\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/jaguar-i-pace-blog-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10803\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jaguar i-Pace<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Jaguar I-Pace (approx $123k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0all-electric SUV\u00a0is incredibly impressive. It combines a 90 kWh battery with an AWD electric motor that delivers close to 225 kW. Even though heavy, it\u2019s still incredibly rapid, managing the 0-100 km\/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds.\u00a0 A 350 km driving range is very achievable in the real world.\u00a0 The new I-Pace is luxurious, comfortable, roomy, and delivers on boot space, too.<\/p>\n<p>On the road, the car deliver\u2019s razor-sharp handling and rides smoothly.\u00a0 The Jaguar I-Pace is an award winner, too: It was crowned 2019 World Car of the Year\u00a0at the New York Motor Show.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10804\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10804\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10804\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/kia-e-niro-blog-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10804\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kia e-Niro<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Kia e-Niro (approx $60k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new Kia e-Niro has a great driving range, with as much as 450 km available on a full charge.\u00a0 This compact SUV is\u00a0comfortable, practical and great value for money, making it one of the best all-round packages on the electric car market today.\u00a0 The car features a 64 kWh battery and a 150 kW electric motor.\u00a0 Boasting plenty of decent features, the e-Niro is a well-equipped small SUV with an 8-inch touchscreen, sat nav, heated leather seats, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera and many other goodies besides. You also get the use of 451-litres of boot space and a 7-year\/160,000 km warranty.\u00a0 The buy new price is very competitive, and it\u2019s little wonder that it is one of the best on the market and liked by many.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10805\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10805\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10805\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Nissan-Leaf-blog-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10805\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nissan Leaf<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Nissan Leaf (approx $50k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new Nissan\u00a0Leaf looks cool and is available in two forms: one version has a 40 kWh battery that gives an official range of 270 km, while the top-of-the-range new Leaf e+ features a larger 62 kWh battery returning up to 380 km travel range. Real world range will likely be less, but still this is very good for the most part and many will be very happy with it.\u00a0 You\u2019ll be able to recharge that battery to 80% in 40 minutes from a rapid charger, and in 7.5 hours from a home wallbox.<\/p>\n<p>A 0-100 km\/h sprint takes 8 seconds.\u00a0 A roomy, stylish interior is a Nissan Leaf strong point.\u00a0 They drive very nicely and offer 435-litres of boot space.\u00a0 Safety is very strong, especially with features like the advanced semi-autonomous Pro Pilot driving technology available on higher spec models.\u00a0 The car\u2019s infotainment system is good and it boasts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10806\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10806\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10806\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/renault-zoe-blog-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10806\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Renault ZOE<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Renault Zoe (approx $50k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Renault ZOE\u00a0is one of the best electric cars on sale in Australia right now.\u00a0 The car has had a recent facelift in 2019 that gave it more range, more power and faster charging at home and abroad.\u00a0 The new Renault ZOE contains a 52 kWh battery that returns a close to 300 km range on a full charge.\u00a0 Two power ratings are available: you can opt for either the 80 kW or 100 kW motor, with the 0-100 km\/h sprint times being 11.4 and 9.6 seconds respectively.\u00a0 These motors are both nippy, particularly about town and city environments.<\/p>\n<p>Plug your little ZOE into a home wallbox delivering 7 kW of power, and the it will be fully charged from flat in under nine hours, while a 50kW fast-charger will see a 20-80% charge in less than an hour. \u00a0The new Renault ZOE, though small, is also good value for money and it\u2019s a great way to get into EV travel.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10807\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10807\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10807\" src=\"https:\/\/www.privatefleet.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/tesla-model-s-blog-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10807\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tesla Model S<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Tesla Model S (approx $150k)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The US firm Tesla created its premium electric car in the form of the Tesla\u00a0Model S\u00a0saloon.
