Fiat Punto

The Fiat Punto is a stylish little car made in Italy. The Fiat Punto brings a dash of style to the small car market. Offered as either a three door or five door, the little car not only has panache but also has practicality to boot. Superb styling incorporates a sturdy body shell that has excellent rigidity and strength. The simple yet head turning design of the exterior is carried through to the interior which also has some nice chic detailing.

This little road biter has some fantastic engines to suit most peoples tastes in the small car bracket. The standard 1.4 litre petrol engine sings sweetly and is driven through a tight five-speed manual or sequential gearbox. Peppy response is accompanied with frugal fuel use, with under 6L/100km an accessible target.  Also included is the petrol powered 1.4 litre turbo.  This is a very engaging drive that is sure to bring a "smile to your dial"!  The petrol turbo is capable of dashing to 100 km/h in under nine seconds, which means that you can very easily cover the ground quickly.  The smaller capacity 1.3 JTD is a diesel that provides outstanding fuel economy, while the larger refined diesel version boasts a 1.9 litre motor which is smooth and torquey. The 1.9 litre diesel is a 6 speed manual that has the capacity of returning a respectable 48.7 mpg on travel that contains both city and motorway travel. This economy does not restrict the little Fiat Punto 1.9 diesel from having some healthy performance figures. The little car can zip up to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds and can march on to 200 km/h where permissible. A nice 280 Nm of torque kicks in at 2000 rpm, which equates to some very useful power in everyday driving conditions. The Fiat Punto 1.3 litre diesel is exceptionally frugal on gas and is able to return 62.7 mpg in both city and open road travel. All other petrol versions of the Fiat Punto can also herald good economy figures, whilst each of the petrol engines are zippy and responsive units that are happy to spin up to their redlines if required.

All of the little Fiat Puntos are well equipped cars that offer a good package of bells and whistles to make any journey enjoyable. Once inside the cabin, the quality instantly impresses. A wide variety of textures and materials are applied and work well, as well as looking first-rate. The carbon effect dash has a quirky appearance and is appealing to the eye. The seats are comfortable and are enjoyable to sit in. Even the base model comes with electric windows and ABS as standard. Also as standard is a trip computer and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. Added to the menu is a healthy 4 speaker CD/radio with 2 tweeters that offers nice clear surround sound. Add front airbags and three point safety belts all round, and you have a superb little city runner or motorway traveller. Press the throttle hard in any of the Fiat Punto range and the drive becomes an enjoyable experience. The suspension is firm and well balanced and handles a spirited drive with ease- something that is very typical of the Italian car marques.

The new little Fiat Punto is a safe (five star -NCAP crash test result) and fun car to drive and Fiat maintains the car's value-for-money ethos.. Fiat's skill in small car making is very evident in this stunning little number. From the hints in the nose treatment of the little Fiat's big cousin -Maserati ­ to the squat back end, the car looks brilliant.
