HSV VXR

Holden has a stunning new 2.0 litre 177 kW engine “Hot Hatch” that will add a bit of spice to your next grocery-shopping trip!

The new HSV VXR has a great looking body that bulges in all the right areas. Curves and muscle go together, and in the HSV VXR the blend is sporty. Big eyes are beautiful, and on the HSV VXR the crisp headlights look sharp. The angled nose cuts the air away to allow for the car to slip effortlessly through. Modern in design, the hot little backside sits squat on the road. Its high waistline accommodates two coupe doors that open wide for easy and roomy access, and to finish the exciting VXR off, a small roof antenna sits neatly at the rear of the curvaceous roofline.

Inside the cabin, the cabin ambience is refined and sporty. The interior not only looks sporty and sexy but the chic-looks give the car a modern and sophisticated feel. The trim is tightly knit together, and the textures very pleasant to the touch. If you like to be caressed and held snug and warm, then you’ll enjoy the supportive, figure hugging front seats. Leg room in the rear is good, so accommodating two large adults in the back seat area poses no big problems. The side windows for the rear passengers have a low swooping profile, and look superb. The boot space is large for the Hot Hatch class, and this gives the HSV VXR a practical edge over many of its rivals.

Luxury items are a plenty, and some of the features place this Euro-flavoured hot hatch near the top of its class. An onboard computer displays the car’s average speed, average fuel consumption, instantaneous fuel consumption and range for the remaining fuel left in the tank. The audio system is very, very good and boasts seven speakers which offer superbly clear surround-sound. Recaro front seats with fore/aft adjustment, height adjustment, lumbar adjustment and tilt adjustment make the journey comfortable and relaxed. The rear passengers have cup holders. The appealing luxury trim starts with leather on the gear knob, wood/wood grain on the centre console, a carbon fibre look on the doors and a very sharp looking carbon-fiber trim on the racy dash. The door mirrors are electrically adjusted and heated. For those who like to look their best, there are illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirrors. Cruise control, power steering, front and rear reading lights, a leather covered multi-function steering wheel with tilt adjustment and telescopic adjustment and leather upholstery are some of the items available to the owner. The HSV VXR has air conditioning with climate control, and this works superbly in Australia’s extreme weather.

On the road, there are few cars inside the Hot Hatch class that can match the VXR for handling and engine response. The Turbocharged engine is a huge strength, and it is very sporty and fuel-efficient in flavour. In tight cornering, grip levels for the HSV VXR are exceptional, and the chassis glows with loads of front-end grip and a decent steering feel. With six gears, the manual is a fun gearbox to swish up and down the ratios.

It’s also true that the HSV VXR is a very safe car by small-car standards. As well as lap-sash seatbelts in all seating positions, the VXR has dual front, side, and even front and rear head airbags. Anti-lock braking and stability control are standard too.

Go buy it, you’ll love it!
