Mercedes Benz Viano

Designed to be not only a work horse but also an all around versatile vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz Viano may just be the vehicle for you.

The two engines are strong units that perform well and are responsive to the demands placed on them by varying driving styles.  The smaller motor is diesel fed and is capable of returning a fine average-fuel economy figure of 8.8 litres/100km.  When placed inside the engine compartment of the Mercedes Benz Viano CDI Ambiente, the turbocharged engine works manfully with heavy loads via a slick 5-speed automatic transmission engine that creates its optimum performance from within the long flat torque curve that this motor, in particular, posseses.  The motor is a 2.1 litre engine.  With 110 kW of power at 3800 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 330 Nm developed between 1800-2400 rpm the Viano will impress you with the flexibility the motor can provide. Mercedes has also taken into account the environment when they designed their diesel engine for the Viano, making the motor emit 95% less soot particulates. 

The other engine variant in the Viano line-up is a petrol fed 3.7 litre.  All the power is generated inside six cylinders.  The wonderful blend of power and refinement  can be felt as you open up the big Mercedes Benz V6, which, when fully unleashed, is capable of propelling the van from 0-100 km/h in nine seconds.  The big 225/55 R17 tyres bite the bitumen nicely and the V6 handles surprisingly well for such a large vehicle.  Again, power is applied to the rear wheels via a silky smooth 5-speed automatic.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz Viano is nothing short of exceptional, with the capacity to seat 6 or more comfortably in either bucket or bench seating.  The big Mercedes Benz Viano van was designed for long trips, with its passengers total comfort and safety in mind. There is a multifunctional steering wheel that allows you to control a host of features, such as the audio system, the journey data system, vehicle systems and even take phone calls. The Viano has a semi-automatic climate control with pollen and dust filters, and there is even a panorama glass sunroof for the rear. There is also a fully automatic climate control with a solar sensor and tunnel switch (to close everything when entering tunnels). The Viano also offers the COMAND and data system that controls not only the audio but navigation options.

Safety is paramount in the Viano.  With features like Parktronic, you can manoeuver and park into tight spots in complete confidence. As with all new Mercedes-Benz vehicles, there are airbags front and rear, and there are superb dynamic safety features like the Electronic Stability Programme, Brake assist, acceleration and skid control and, of course, Anti-lock brakes.
