Similar to its predecessor the B100, the Mercedes-Benz B200 has its own distinctive flair. The Mercedes-Benz B200 comes in two choices of petrol engines. The standard engine is a 2.0 litre that generates a peppy 100 kW and a maximum torque figure of 185 Nm. For the average person, this is more than adequate. There is also a top of the line petrol engine that is turbo-charged and pushes the power level up to 142 kW. The performance engine is known as the B200 Turbo. It also delivers an impressive amount of torque at low engine speeds. Maximum torque for the Turbo model is a lusty 280 Nm. Both engines provide transport that is pleasurable and smooth in operation. The top-of-the-line B 200 Turbo is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds and captures a top speed of 218 km/h.
Performance need not effect fuel consumption, and Mercedes proves this with impressive fuel economy figures for the Turbo model of a combined 8.1 l/100 km. CO2 emissions combined are as low as 193 g/km. Yes, the B 200 manages a slightly smaller 7.4 1/100km, and CO2 emissions combined are 177: g/km).
To complement the choice of engines, a choice of transmissions is also available. A nice manual 5-speed sits inside the B200, but the B200 can also feature the awesome CVT transmission. If you're choosing the turbo model, then a slick 6-speed manual transmission is offered alongside the CVT transmission. A CVT stands for Continuous Variable Transmission and has no gear-shift points. With a CVT, you do not feel the vehicle automatically shifting.
Safety is part of the Mercedes premium package. In the event of a crash, the entire drive train is tilted to enable it to slide under a raised floor beneath the front seats. Other features include front and rear passenger side and side curtain air bags. An electronic stability system prevents skidding; Steer Control assists the driver in the event of a sudden radical move of the steering wheel.
The interior comes pretty nicely decked out as well, with sports car-like seats that conform to the driver being particulrly comfortable. You will enjoy a well thought out cabin design that gives ample head and leg room for all occupants. A large choice in stereo/entertainment systems are linked with a multi-function steering wheel, where controls for the cruise control as well as the stereo are situated.
To drive, the B200 is agile and accurate and the grip levels are very commendable
The Mercedes Benz B200 offers much. The stylish bodywork, comfortable interior and crisp engines ensure that you remain at the front of the pack. Enjoy a drive today.
