Holden Commodore

If you're playing the free word association game and someone says "Holden", there's a very good chance that the next person will say "Commodore." Since the 1970s, the Holden Commodore has been a very popular and well loved car that is practically an Aussie icon. Not for nothing has the Holden Commodore been one of the best selling cars in Australia - if not the best seller.

The latest Holden Commodores continue the proud tradition of great cars. After a ground-up rebuild to produce a car designed by Australians for Australians and six years of hard work, it's here. The design team wanted to build a great car that combines a passion for driving with the superb advanced safety features needed in today's world. And the results are worth it: the latest Holden Commodore range is a world-class masterpiece of engineering design.

Prospective owners of a Holden Commodore have a wide range to choose from, and they all look brilliant. Whether you choose the Holden Commodore Omega, the SV6, the SS, the SS-V, the V-series, the Executive Wagon or the special edition SVZ wagon, you're bound to find something you like.

Even the basic, bottom-of-the range Holden Commodore Omega is a superb piece of design, offering excellent value for money. The Holden Commodore Omega's Alloytec 3.6 litre V6 engine offers you plenty of bang for your buck, having a maximum output of 180 kW that's all yours to play with through the 4-speed manual gearbox. The Holden Commodore Omega also has an optional 175 kW LPG engine, which will make fuel consumption easier on your wallet. Even this basic option has Holden's Linear Control, which gives it excellent on-road agility and handling. Suspension (sports suspension with a limited slip differential is an option for the Omega, but is standard in all the SS, SV6 and SSV Holden Commodores. The Holden Commodore Omega also has an exclusive "country suspension" option which raises the ride height). A full ESP programme is included, incorporating traction control, ABS brakes, EBD and brake assist. The basic Holden Commodore Omega also comes fitted with a multifunction steering wheel, a multifunction display unit, a priority key memory system, cruise control, a sophisticated trip computer, a Blaupunkt radio/CD system with speed-sensitive volume, an electronically adjustable lumbar support seat for the driver, cupholders and an auxiliary power outlet. Dual stage front airbags for driver and passenger, and pyrotechnic pretensioner seatbelts with load limiters are safety features available in the basic Omega variant of the Holden Commodore.

At the other end of the Holden Commodore spectrum, the SSV features a six speed, six litre Generation 4 Alloy V8 engine that can put out a very impressive 270 kW of power. While it has the same suspension as the humbler Omega, the Holden Commodore SSV has the crisper sports suspension as standard. Perched proudly on 19" alloy wheels, the Holden Commodore SSV boasts a sports body kit that includes quad exhausts and a striking high-mount rear spoiler. Inside, the Holden Commodore SSV has all the bells and whistles found on the Omega and then some. Beginning with the leather-wrap sports profile steering wheel and ending with a few extra safety features - namely side curtain airbags - the Holden Commodore SSV has it all. From the moment you sit in the very comfortable leather upholstered bucket seats, you will be aware that you are in for a comfortable and enjoyable drive. Other luxurious touches inside the Holden Commodore SSV include the adjustable passenger seat, the six-CD sound system, the DVD compatible 6.5" LCD display (rear seat overhead DVD player is optional), dual zone electronic climate control and Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity.

Whichever type of Holden Commodore you choose, you will find that this Aussie battler continues to offer great handling, driving pleasure and reliability.
