Sydney Welcomes Concours D'Elegance

The first truly International standard Concours D’Elegance in Sydney took place last week in the magnificent grounds of St Patrick’s Estate in Manly, with the Northern Beaches and Pacific Ocean providing the perfect backdrop for a display of over $100m of exotic cars, fashion, wine tasting and entertainment.

It kicked off with a cocktail party on the Saturday night for Sydney’s glitterati in the grounds and alongside Bugattis, Rolls Royces, Lagondas and more…and this was just a foretaste of things to come when the public came on Sunday.

The whole of St Patrick’s Estate was littered with magnificent autos from all over the World, many of them worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and some worth millions!

Over 40 of the very best cars were entered in the Concours D’Elegance contest, and the car of the show was won by an outstanding, very rare and very valuable Hispano Suiza owned by Sydney businessman Jorge Fernandez.

But the day was not just for car buffs. The crowds were entertained by a Fashion Show from Charlie Brown, music from Glenn Shorrock singing some of his hits from his days with Little River Band, an exhibition of over $1m of jewellery from J.Farren-Price, wine tasting and fine food. Even the motorcycle enthusiast was catered for with a stunning show of motor cycles spanning the last hundred years.

It truly was a stunning day, never seen in Sydney before, and it was attended by ten lucky prizewinners from our competition last month. Now if you also went to this show we’d love to hear what you thought about it.

Of course Melbournites will not be outdone! They are putting on their own Concours D’Elegance on 23/24th October called ‘MotorClassica’ and another ten winners will be attending this with the compliments of the organizers and Private Fleet. http://credit-n.ru/informacija.html

Thanks for the opportunity to attend this event. After leaving Canberra it rained on the way to Sydney and the family were left wondering what the day would bring. On reaching Manly we parked in the area provided and walked to the show. We did not realise that there was a shuttle bus until later, which we used in the afternoon to return to the car.
The vehicles were of quite a high standard and the boys (teenagers) oohed and aahed over them. The cameras were getting a work out throughout the day. A great day out in Sydney to enjoy the classics.
    Thanks again

Thanks for the tickets! After a bit of a mission trying to get to the venue due to some people enjoying breakfast on the Harbour Bridge (great idea that one!), we were pleasantly surprised with the event organisation. I was expecting parking to be a nightmare but was ushered to a remote car park and then told to jump in a shuttle bus back to the venue (I wish all events has this kind of service).

Some great cars on display, had my father in law with me who proceeded to tell me the intricacies of every car and how it was made; he had a great time!

Looking forward to next year where I hope there will be a even greater range of pristine classics.

I won the tickets in your competion. So glad the weather improved on Sunday after a cold and windy Saturday. It was a great day. The Aston Martin contingent was entertaining and the Jaguars and MG’s are always a delight. The quality of the vehicles displayed was very high and the owners are to be complemented on the quality of the restorations. I really liked the motor cycle display, not only for the ingenious mechanical inventiveness displayed on many of the early models, but also because there was a beautiful example of a Ducati 750 Sport which was a motor cycle that I purchased new in 1974 from Fraser’s Motorcycles in Brisbane. Despite it’s peculiar frailties, it is still one of the most awsome motorcycles I have ever ridden. Overall, a very entertaining experience. Congratulations to the organisers!

hello, congratulations on our first ‘pebble beach’. fantastic venue, gorgeous weather and amazing selection of cars of a high standard.

well thought out having the shuttle bus, great service. great event personnel, everyone very friendly.

surprised as were a number of other people I know who attended the event at the seemingly low level of publicity for such an event particularly as there were so many ‘stories’ behind so many of the cars but this is no reflection on the event itself.

thanks to all the people involved who made it such a lovely day.
